I support active women and men shift from busy-ness and tension to feeling calm, connected, and strong so that they can keep doing the things they love.

Moving better, breathing better, thinking better, feeling better.

This has a ripple effect on those around you.

Let’s cultivate this state of calm strength together through the practice of yoga and movement.

“Is my body just going to hurt from now on?”

This is a common question I hear from clients.

As a 40+ mom with a business or a “weird job” that simply requires you to be active, alert and engaged, it’s overwhelmingly frustrating to be faced with chronic muscle and joint pain.

You may be feeling…

  • Frustrated that you’re not able to move as well as you used to — Taking care of your established business and your family and even everyday tasks like sitting, standing, lifting things, and driving are taking their toll.

  • Exhausted from moving your body around trying to feel “okay” — you’re still pushing through, but at the end of the day, you’re starting to wonder about your future and if you’ll really be able to “stay in the game”

  • Depleted from sleepless nights — moving pillows around trying to get comfy isn’t cutting it, especially when you’ve got a business and career to lead, kids to care for, and family life to be “on” for

  • Afraid that you’ll miss out on adventures — You’re used to being a “get it done” person and hiking up that mountain or even running across the street seems like risky business these days

  • Worried about long-term effects of painkillers — to your body, your pocketbook and your future ability to keep working

  • Majorly distracted from your life’s work — when you’re brain is focused on pain, it’s tough to free up energy for keeping your established career going long-term, creating new projects, delivering the important stuff you’ve got to give to the world and have something left over for family life.

On the outside, it looks like you’ve got everything together. But underneath it all, you’re suffering.

If you’re like most of my clients, you’ve had these “aches and pains” for the last few years (or more!), and it’s really not your fault.

Perhaps you had an injury years ago that changed things forever, and you’ve never quite recovered.

Maybe you had a baby or two, and nursed them and carried them around for longer than you thought you would, and your family life means that you have very little downtime to take care of you.

Your “weird job” requires more from you. It’s “weird” in a good way!

Maybe you’re running your own business, or you’re a creative, or you’re an established professional who has some flexibility, or you’re working shifts as a nurse/flight attendant/chef, or you’re a realtor running around town…. It just requires “more” of you, and you like that.

But this does mean that you need to use your body and brain a lot to keep your work afloat so you can continue to provide for your family.

And let’s not forget driving around or sitting at a computer in strange ways.

All of this can add up to an experience of pain.

It’s a perfect storm.

You’re now realizing, if you want to keep your energy and vitality up for long-term business sustainability, you can no longer ignore these aches and pains.

Good news! All of these things – the fear of moving, the experience of pain itself, the exhaustion, the distraction from your family and from your important work – can be remedied and reprogrammed.

Let me start by putting your mind at ease: Nothing is wrong with you.

Instead, please consider this perspective: Your body has an IMMENSE capacity to feel better and to become stronger, with the right input.

Maybe you’ve tried physical therapy. You did your PT exercises for a while, but then just got bored or forgot to do them.

Perhaps you’ve gotten massages to try to relax, or even gone to the chiropractor when you really need to get fixed up.

And maybe you’ve tried to stretch your way out of that feeling of “tightness” in yoga classes because you bought into the idea that flexibility in yoga leads to feeling better.

You’ve tried all of these things, yet you’re still feeling tight and in pain. Here’s why…

First of all, all of these modalities are beneficial, but unfortunately, they are only temporary because they are passive, which means you don’t get to “own” the changes in your body for the long term.

Let’s talk about stretching. Stretching has an analgesic (i.e. pain relieving) effect, it’s relaxing, and it helps us build a better mental map of our body. So it’s good, and it feels good.

When we passively stretch in a traditional yoga practice where we use straps to pull ourselves into position or press ourselves against a Yoga Wheel like in the picture to the left or let our hips flop down to the floor in a “hip opener” like Pigeon Pose, the result is that we get a temporary sensation of feeling better, which quickly fades, and the pain is back after just a few hours or a day or two.

The same is true of massage, chiropractic adjustments, and even things like foam rolling.

Those of us with chronic aches and pain, tend to also put ourselves into the same “optimal alignment” positions in yoga, practice after practice, which means we end up overtraining some parts of our body and undertraining others.

Simply put, you haven’t been given the right tools to stop and explore what’s been calling for your attention, and ignoring it has only made it worse.

When you understand how your body actually works and what’s going on with your muscles and joints, you can find a way forward.

I promise that…

You can learn to use breathing to get yourself into a state of pain-relieving calm…

You can learn how to move in new and different ways that decrease your pain and increase your confidence…

You can find areas of weakness in your body and rejuvenate, RESTORE and STRENGTHEN them.

The result? A strong body that feels safe, which turns the switch in your brain for pain to the OFF position.

Doing gentle, proactive work in the right way leads to changes in your body that you get to OWN!

Things like…

A newfound range of motion that is yours for the long-term, not just for an hour or a day.

All of your joints and muscles become strong enough to do what you want to do in life, continue working and all kinds of new movement (and life experiences!) open up for you.

More options for how you can move your body, which leads to more graceful aging, more fun with your family, and more energy to fuel your work.

And best of all, this new gentle way of moving can be easily incorporated into a completely doable and enjoyable practice, that doesn’t take hours of your time every day.

It all begins by learning to work WITH your body, not against it.

Hi, I’m Robin.

I help high-achieving women with business (or some other “weird, but good job”) and a family life who NEED to keep going transform chronic muscle tightness and joint pain into new found strength, rejuvenation and confidence in your mobility.

I can show you how to re-train your body and brain to…

  • Recognize posture and movement habits that are sabotaging your body
  • Learn new ways of breathing and moving that help you feel safe in your body
  • Gradually build strength in the areas of weakness so your whole system feels good

Your body and brain are amazing – and you can work with it to heal.

My approach bridges the fields of yoga, functional movement and mindfulness and helps women reclaim how they felt when they were younger, or feel better than ever!

You can be a part of this too.

The world desperately needs women like you who can model a life of movement and energy in your 40s and 50s and beyond. In turn, this creates a positive ripple effect on your family’s health, future and ability to keep your business going and enjoy what you worked so hard for.

If you’re serious about gently restoring health in the midst of chronic aches and pain and finally getting this handled, click here to schedule a Movement Breakthrough Session and I’ll show you how.

I find new strength and a new me emerging!

I passionately look forward to my weekly private practice with Robin because I truly feel transformed. The most special attribute of a private session is how Robin works with how your body is feeling that day or specific requests to strengthen certain areas of your body. Her knowledge of the human body, yoga poses that affect specific areas, as well as your level in the practice are all accounted for so you never feel like you can’t do it. In fact, sometimes you surprise yourself. I’m both physically and mentally challenged each session with new found strength and realizing a better part of myself emerging each time. Thanks to Robin, I feel like I can give more of myself to the life surrounding me.
